What are the parts of a website needed to get on the Internet?
On a basic level you need the following parts to build a website:
Every website has a ip address associated with it. (Think like a phone number). Your domain name is an alias for your ip address to make it easier to remember. So instead of having type a string of numbers, you can type in the domain name to access your website.
Your website code has to reside on a computer that is connected to the Internet (called a web server). If you do not have the knowledge to run and maintain a web server, you can easily rent space from a web hosting company for your website to display on the Internet.
Website code combines html, css and scripting logic with your website content and images to display your web pages on the internet.
