What is Web Programming

Web programming is the process of using various markup and scripting languages to build a website.

There are many different languages that you can use to build a web site. HTML is used on all websites. You use HTML to output and style content and images on a page. You can build off of this to create complex and powerful websites with infinite functionality such as processing a form, accepting credit card payments online, query a database and display data…

Web designers create what a website will look like. Through graphic design tools, they create an image of how the website will look. A web programmer then takes that image and converts it to code so it can be viewable on the Internet.

I am a web programmer. My work focuses on back end coding that centers on the functionality of a website, rather than how it looks. Some examples of functionality I code are: member registration and login forms, credit card processing, content managers, online stores…
