Common questions people ask when looking to hire a freelance web developer.
Freelancing
Working with a freelancer is similar to hiring an employee – especially these days with so many people working from home.
I am an individual, not a team of freelance web programmers. When you hire me, you work with and communicate directly with only me.
The term web designer is used somewhat loosely to describe anyone that builds websites.
Web design implies how a website looks. I am NOT a graphic designer. I do not design graphical elements that go on a web page.
I focus on the technical side of building websites – specifically related to website code. I build websites, and take care of all code related aspects of building a website. Database design and development, PHP programming, debugging problems and providing website support services.
Most of the websites I build are some form of a content management system (CMS).
Any database driven website can be considered a CMS since the content is stored in a database and managed through web based tools.
WordPress is a popular open source CMS. I mainly build WordPress websites or code custom websites with PHP/MySQL. I build everything from simple HTML sites to complex web applications.
I accept checks, bank transfers, PayPal and credit cards. I send all invoices over email that include a link for you to pay securely online.
Web Development
These are common questions I get asked often about the web development process and working with me.
I accept checks, bank transfers, PayPal and credit cards. I send all invoices over email that include a link for you to pay securely online.
I send electronic invoices that enable you to pay with a credit card or bank transfer securely online. I also accept payments via check, ans PayPal.
On larger projects, I require a 50% deposit and then milestone payments during the web development process. For ongoing piece meal work, I time-track and bill hourly on the first of each month.
Yes I do. I would say about 50% of the work I do is taking over a website that was built by someone else.
I offer non-tangible irrevocable goods and services. Once a contract is signed, or terms agreed upon over email, or the product is sent or service has been rendered, refunds are not issued.
You can read my terms of service here.
Easy. Get in touch to start a conversation. If your project fits my skill set and we communicate well , I will provide a quote to build your website. If you accept, I will send a contract clearly defining what will be done and and invoice for a deposit to get started.
Being an independent, sole proprietor and freelancer, I have a large base of clients that I provide ongoing website support as needed.
Because of this I can not guarantee that I will work solely on your project. Delays inevitably come up during a project – from clients providing feedback and materials that I need to complete a job, and to other factors outside of our control. I would be I would be out of business if I took on one project at a time.
